Since a recent update, some of you have been letting us know that you have been getting excessive notifications on the mobile version of Frogar.io, specifically the notification letting you know that the tournament results are up. I am writing this blog post to publicly apologise for this issue.
We recently updated the game introducing a new plugin that was designed to help us with notifications for the mobile version of the game, in particular for the release of the new iOS version. We tested the plugin and were happy with it, but unfortunately we didn't test it enough! The issue was that when trying to send more than 1000 notifications, the plugin fails and gets stuck on sending the same notification to the first 1000 people it finds, over and over again.
Part of the process of sending notifications happens on the web server that is used for things like storing data on players and so on. We were able to disable the sending of any new notifications from the web server, but unfortunately we cannot stop notifications that have already been queued to go out (sort of like how you can't stop an email from sending once you send it). So we can confirm that no new notifications will be sent while we investigate the issue further, however you may still be getting queued notifications. I can confirm though since 09:46 am (GMT) that the queued notifications have stopped for me so they should now have stopped for everyone.
If you are still getting notifications, you can disable notifications on your mobile for a single app by going to the settings > apps > Frogar.io and unchecking "Show Notifications". If you would still like to receive notifications once the issue has been resolved, simple re-enable this in a few days time.
Again, I am very sorry to the players that experienced this issue. The few of you that contact me on here, facebook or twitter will know how much I care about the game and it's players so I will be doing everything that I can to be 100% sure that this issue will not happen again.
