Frogar.io - Multiplier Madness!

Over the past few months, things have been calming down quite a bit at Jadoku. Frogar.io is finally starting to run smoothly on all platforms (web, Android, and more recently, iOS) and we're officially now calling it "stable". Up until now, we had been working hard to implement the initial planned features but now with those all checked off, we can finally start implementing some new and fresh ones!

Before we get onto that though I wanted to take a quick moment to let those that are still having issues know that we are reading and noting down all feedback that we do get from facebook, twitter, email and the in-game feedback section so please do let us know if you are still having issues with the game. Please also make sure to include as much information as you can about any issues that you are having so that we can do our best to look into what might be causing it.

On the same note, I also wanted to thank the members of the Frogar.io community that have been in touch with us regularly with their feedback, issues and suggestions. Without you guys Frogar.io wouldn't be as good as it could be, so please do keep your feedback coming (especially now that we can start thinking about new features) and thank you!

So, without further ado, let's talk about some new features!

Multiplier Buyback and A Helping Hand

For quite some time the most common complaint has been that there's just not enough reward in the game, or that it gets pretty stale after a short while. This is something we're going to address with each new feature that we add over the coming months, but for the first one that tries to tackle this we introduce a new feature that we're calling Multiplier Buyback. The idea is really simple: when you die, you are able to buy back some or all of the multiplier that you had when you died so that you start your next game with it. If you are playing well, this can give you a real boost. Here's a little promo video that shows it in action:

You may notice the video also contains a section about another new feature that we've called A Helping Hand. This is another simple feature that offers you a free x30 multiplier when you're not doing so well. We added this to help new players get into the game without too much frustration!

Let's Get Serious About Multipliers!

Don't worry, this isn't math class! These new features are designed to tick quite a few boxes. We're looking at trying to add more ways to spend your well-deserved coins in a way that feels fun and rewarding while at the same time we're trying to help introduce (but not force) players into the underlying mechanics of the game. In this case we're talking about the multiplier which tends to be the main mechanic that gets overlooked by new players. So these new features should hopefully add another element of reward and enjoyment to the game while also teaching you the importance of your multiplier.

Some Love For Our Russian Following

Over the past month or so since going live with the web version, our Russian following has grown to be our biggest. You guys not only leave us kind words each day (which we very much appreciate), but you also seem to really love our little game! So, as a little thanks we've teamed up with a good friend on Twitter, @EvaFatal to help us improve the Russian translation for the game! This will be an ongoing thing, and we hope to make sure that the game is as enjoyable for our Russian players as it is for everyone else.

Awesome, So What's Next?

Firstly, we want to set up a more refined update schedule. In the past, due to regular issues and challenges we would update the game frequently (sometimes even a few times per week). Although this allowed us to fix issues quickly, it did cause frustrations for players who were sometimes forced to update regularly or fall behind in updates. Going forward we plan to have 1 or 2 updates each month, packed full of improvements, fixes and new features.

In addition to that, we're going to be engaging a lot more with the community. We're very happy now with the core mechanics of the game (although there are still some minor tweaks needed) so now we really want to make this a game that you guys love just as much as we do. So keep your eyes peeled on our social channels for possible ways that you can chat with us about your ideas on how we can make this game AWESOME, and of course, keep your feedback and suggestions coming!

Some of the topics that we hear a lot from you guys, and topics that we will be discussing with the community are:

  • more game modes
  • bosses
  • environmental effects and objects you can interact with
  • hats (yes, hats!)
  • new frogs and cool new visual effects for frogs
  • more and improved support for other languages
  • so much more...

Ultimately there is plenty of room for improvement and plenty of opportunity for you to help us shape the game into something that we can all enjoy.

We would honestly love to be able to respond to everyone that gets in touch with us, but since we are only a 2-man team it's just not possible for us to do that at the moment. With that being said, we do read everything that you send to us, so don't be a stranger!
